Moose Hunts

Canada Moose is Mountain Man Adventure’s premier target species and what we are known best for. The area we hunt has an excellent moose population and great genetics, making it one of the top destinations for Canada Moose in the world.

Trophy size, high moose numbers, great success rate, affordable pricing options and the local knowledge of Tom and his experienced team makes for a top quality hunting adventure.

Offering archery rut hunts, rifle rut hunts and late season winter hunts in a vast area we can cater to anyone at any level. An added bonus is the ease of arrival to the hunting area that does not involve costly extra wilderness charters or additional travel. Many of our guests choose to drive and can bring their vehicle right to camp and take their trophy and meat home.

The magic of our area is something that must be experienced first-hand and It is an adventure you will not regret booking.

Chasing Booners - Rut Moose Hunt

This hunt option takes place in one of our extremely remote camps that consistently produces huge bulls. You will be guided by either Tom Sallows or Brett Waller. They are our most experienced moose guides and have an amazing track record of finding these giants.

This hunt is designed for hunters that truly want to focus on harvesting a giant moose. It is priced higher due to the extra equipment needed for this type of hunt, and the ability to extract the animal remotely which may require the use of horses.  We understand that this could be your dream hunt so we like to go the extra mile to ensure our camps, although remote, are warm and comfortable. We put our best efforts in year round to give our clients the best possible experiences when they arrive.

In our opinion, this is the ultimate moose hunting experience. It is designed around discipline and only huge- old monsters will be targeted from these key camps. So if a chance at Boone and Crockett class Canadian moose is truly one of your goals this is the perfect hunt for you.

November Moose/ Deer Combo

Although we don’t specialize in Deer we do very well when both whitetail and mule deer are added to the late season November moose hunts. The deer are in full rut then so it definitely adds to the overall northern experience. There are some huge-old bush bucks running around moose country searching for does.

Elk Hunts

We offer both archery and rifle elk hunts. We have limited spots in Alberta in archery only zones or we offer full rut hunts with any weapon the BC/Compass Mountain side.

The genetics are the same on both sides of the operation. The elk here grow large with exceptional mass and sport beautiful dark horns with ivory tips. All of our elk hunts take place in trophy units so bulls must be 6 point minimum on one side to harvest.

These are true mountain wilderness hunts that maybe challenging but rewarding. There is nothing like calling a big old, furious, screaming herd bull into range.

Northern Whitetail/ Mule Deer/ Wolf Combo

Even though our main focus is on moose, we do offer a good deer hunt during the rut. This is a true bush buck hunt that can either be spot and stalk or blinds/stands used in key areas. We have both mule deer and whitetail inhabiting the same area  so it’s beneficial to have both tags in your pocket.

Wolf Hunts

Wolf licenses can be added to any of our hunts or booked as a baited wolf hunt in the winter months from December through March. These hunts are done over baits where we have heated blinds that are being hit by local packs.

Cougar Hunts

This area has some of the largest cats in the world, true giants that live off deer, elk and moose. In Alberta we can only cater to Alberta residents but for non albertans, we can slip over to our neighbouring bc area to chase these huge mountain lions as well as lynx. These hunts are done with hounds, making it very thrilling once a big Tom is located.

Black Bear Hunts

Black bears are a fun add-on to a fall moose or elk hunt on a trophy fee basis. Fall bruins have great hair and are notoriously fat. It’s not uncommon to bump into them while pursuing other game in September and October.

The best time to target bears only is May through June. Spot and stalk and predator calling both provide a huge adrenaline rush and get you up close and personal with BIG bears.

We average over 6’ and take several every season that go well over the 7’ mark. We also have a good number of color phase.

While most of our spring bear hunts are conducted from the comfort of our BC Compass Mountain camp, we have a good number of Alberta allocation as well and will custom tailor a package that best suits your adventure checklist. â€‹â€‹

Trapline Excursions

This is a very unique adventure. At affordable price points, this is a great trip for small groups of people who want to experience a working trapline in the northern wilderness in the winter.

With a number of warm rustic cabins to keep the winter outside and snowmobiles to get us around the breathtaking frozen country, it is an iconic way to experience winter beauty and an older way of life.

With marten, lynx, Fischer, coyote, wolf, fox, weasel, beaver, muskrat, squirrel, rabbit and even some wolverine you never know what could turn up in the traps.
